The Birmingham Liver Clinic is a chamber of liver physicians led by Dennis Freshwater and Andrew Holt. They are both Consultant Transplant Hepatologists working at the Liver Transplant & Hepatobiliary Unit - a tertiary referral unit based in Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
The Birmingham unit has an international reputation for Hepatology and is one of the largest transplant units in Europe, performing over 150 liver transplants each year. The unit specialises in the management of complex liver diseases including liver failure and liver transplantation and provides tertiary surgical and endoscopic services for the region.
Finding a private Consultant Hepatologist for the assessment of liver disease is sometimes difficult due to the limited availability of these specialists.
The Birmingham Liver Clinic at BMI The Priory Hospital was created in response to demand for these services and provides a comprehensive, expert and discreet personal service that meets all your needs.
Our Consultants are happy to see patients with any form of liver problem. Examples range from abnormal liver tests and alcoholic liver disease, to viral hepatitis and complex liver disorders such as cirrhosis, liver cancer, and jaundice. We are also able to offer interventional services such as endoscopic retrograde cholangio-pancreatography (ERCP) and Hepatobiliary Endoscopy.
The Consultants in the Birmingham Liver Clinic work closely with their colleagues in Hepatopancreaticobiliary surgery and interventional radiology to offer a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to liver and pancreatic disease.
Our experience means that we can offer you the best solution to your problem tailored to your individual needs. You can be assured that you are in expert hands.
